Szechuan Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup vegetable broth
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Chili garlic sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with a small amount of the vegetable broth to create a slurry.
  2. Combine soy sauce, brown sugar, chili garlic sauce, rice vinegar, red pepper flakes, garlic powder, and ginger in a saucepan over medium heat.
  3. Add the remaining vegetable broth to the saucepan and bring to a simmer.
  4. Pour in the cornstarch slurry and stir continuously and slowly until the sauce thickens, about 3-5 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and let the sauce cool.
