Taco Seasoning Recipe
Mix up this homemade taco seasoning recipe and add it to any protein or veggies you like. I love to add this to chicken for chicken burrito bowls, ground beef for my ground beef tacos or to veggies. This is the perfect spice mix to have in your pantry.
Ingredients
- 4 teaspoons cumin ground
- 4 teaspoons ground chili
- 2 teaspoons paprika ground
- 2 teaspoons onion powder
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon oregano dried
Instructions
To Make the Taco Seasoning:
- To a bowl, whisk together all of the spices: cumin, ground chili, paprika, onion powder, garlic and dried oregano.
- Transfer to an airtight container and store in a dark, cool place for up to 1 year.
To Use this Taco Seasoning:
- To use this taco seasoning, add 2 tablespoons for one pound of protein such as shrimp, ground beef, flank steak or chicken.
- For instance, I like to cube up one pound of chicken breast and add 2 teaspoons of olive oil, the juice from 1 lime and 2 tablespoons of this taco seasoning.
Notes
- Here's how I like to use this taco seasoning:
- Zero salt: I didn't include any salt in this taco seasoning on purpose. I find it's best to salt protein according to the type of protein. AND then add the seasoning. I usually gear toward 1 teaspoon of kosher salt per 1 pound of protein.
- 1 Pound of Protein (chicken, ground beef, flank steak or shrimp) = 2 tablespoons of taco seasoning.
- 1 Pound of Protein (chicken, ground beef, flank steak or shrimp) = 2 tablespoons of taco seasoning.
