Taco Tater Tot Casserole

Taco Tater Tot Casserole is a weeknight meal the whole family will love with taco meat and crispy tater tots all smothered in cheddar cheese.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup water
  • 6 tablespoons taco seasoning , or 2 packets taco seasoning mix
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese , shredded
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 package frozen tater tots , 16 ounces

Instructions

  1. Preheat an oven to 375 degrees and spray a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. Cook the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until completely browned, 5 to 7 minutes.
  3. Whisk the water and 3 tablespoons of the taco seasoning together and add to the pan, stirring frequently, for 3-4 minutes until most of the water is gone.
  4. Put the meat mixture into the bottom of your casserole dish.
  5. Toss the tater tots with a tablespoon of vegetable oil and the remaining taco seasoning sprinkled over them evenly.
  6. Cover with the meat mixture with cheese, then line up the tater tots on top in rows.
  7. Bake for 40-45 minutes until the top is golden brown.
