Tartar Sauce
Delicious homemade tartar sauce that is perfect for for your seafood feast! Adjust the seasonings to your personal tastes.
Ingredients
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 3/4 cup dill pickle drained well, see notes, finely chopped
- 1-2 tablespoons pickle relish to taste, sweet
- 1 tablespoon dill finely minced, fresh
- 1 tablespoon onion very finely minced
- 1-2 teaspoons lemon juice to taste
- salt to taste
- black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Combine all of the ingredients in a small bowl. Start with one serving of the sweet relish and the lemon juice, then you can add more to taste later. We like a sweet tartar sauce so we add more.
- Place in a lidded container and refrigerate for at least 3 hours. This is best when refrigerated overnight.
Notes
- drain the pickles well on paper towels so they don't make your tartar sauce too liquidy
- one serving is 1/4 cup, perfect for a little cup with your fish and chips!
