Tater Tot Casserole Recipe

Use ground beef and golden mushroom soup in this tater tot casserole recipe. This classic recipe is a family favorite at potlucks and gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • ¼ cup diced onion
  • ½ teaspoon minced garlic 
  • 10.5 ounces golden mushroom soup undiluted (1 can)
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese divided
  • 10-14 ounces frozen tater tots or golden crispy crowns

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350º Fahrenheit.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef, onion and garlic. Cook and stir until the beef is no longer pink. Drain off any fat.
  3. Add the undiluted golden mushroom soup and stir to coat.
  4. Spray an 8x8 or 9x9” baking pan with cooking spray.
  5. Add the ground beef mixture to the pan and spread it out evenly.
  6. Sprinkle one cup of shredded cheddar over the ground beef.
  7. Place tater tots over the top of the cheese, covering the entire top of the casserole.
  8. Sprinkle the remaining cheese over the tater tots.
  9. Bake for 40 minutes or until heated through.
  10. Serve immediately.
