Ingredients

for the pie crust
  • 1¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter cold and cut into small pieces
  • 4 tbsp ice cold water
for the quiche egg filling
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1½ cups whole milk
  • ½ cup cream
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the cold butter and use a pastry cutter or fork to mix until the mixture resembles coarse sand.
  3. Gradually add the ice cold water, one tablespoon at a time, whole mixing with a fork or pastry blender until the dough comes together in a ball.
  4. Roll out the dough to fit a 9-inch quiche pan. Trim the edges and prick the bottom of the crust with a fork. Bake or 10 minutes.
  5. In a medium mixing bowl, mix together the eggs, milk, cream, nutmeg, salt, and pepper until smooth. Whisk in add-ins and then pour into crust.
  6. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the top of the quiche is lightly golden brown and the center is set. Allow the quiche to cool 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.
