Tortilla Pizzas
Tortilla Pizzas use flour tortillas as a quick pizza base topped with pizza sauce and shredded mozzarella cheese. Baked at 425°F, they develop browned, crisp edges and melted, bubbly cheese. Optional toppings like parmesan, fresh basil, and crushed red pepper flakes add flavor and variation. These pizzas offer a convenient alternative to traditional dough with a thin, crispy texture.
Ingredients
- 4 flour tortilla 8-10 inch ideally
- 1 cup pizza sauce or your favorite pasta sauce
- 1 ⅓ cup mozzarella cheese shredded
- Parmesan Cheese optional toppings, fresh basil
- crushed red pepper flakes
- basil
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F (if using the oven method).
- Spread ¼ cup of sauce on each tortilla.
- Sprinkle ⅓ cup shredded cheese on each tortilla.
- Bake tortilla pizzas in a cast-iron skillet, on a pizza stone or directly on the oven rack (with a cookie sheet below to catch any melted cheese drips) for 7-9 minutes or until edges are browned and cheese is bubbling. Cook time will vary based on your oven and size of tortillas. Watch carefully near the end so that the tortillas don't burn.
- Sprinkle on red pepper flakes, parmesan and basil if using before serving.
Notes
- Use gluten-free or grain-free tortillas to make this recipe suitable for gluten-sensitive diets.
- Dairy-free shredded cheese can replace mozzarella for vegan or lactose-free options.
