Tres Leches Cake

Tres Leches Cake is a moist yellow cake soaked in a mixture of evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, and heavy cream. The cake is baked, then pierced to absorb the milk mixture, resulting in a tender, rich texture. It is topped with whipped cream sweetened with powdered sugar and vanilla, garnished optionally with fresh berries. This dessert offers a creamy, sweet finish with a light cinnamon hint in the cake batter.

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9x13" baking pan with cooking spray.
  2. Combine cake mix, eggs, milk, vanilla, and cinnamon in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Beat with a hand mixer to combine until well incorporated. Pour into prepared pan.
  4. Bake 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan on a wire rack 20 minutes.
  5. In a large bowl combine evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, and heavy cream together. Whisk topping ingredients until combined.
  6. Use a chopstick or skewer, and generously poke holes in top of the warm cake. Pour milk mixture slowly over cake, and let the mixture absorb and fill the holes.
  7. Refrigerate, covered, at least 4 hours or overnight.
  8. Just before serving, add cream, confectioner’s sugar and vanilla, and beat until it begins to thicken. Continue to beat until soft peaks form. Spread over cake.
  9. Serve with sliced strawberries (optional)
