Tuna Poke Bowl

Tuna Poke Bowl features diced sushi-grade tuna marinated in a mix of soy sauce, lime juice, sesame oil, and spices, served over a bed of sushi rice or fresh vegetables. The combination creates a fresh, savory dish with bright citrus and umami notes, balanced by optional crunchy and creamy garnishes, ideal for a light lunch or dinner.

Ingredients

For the Tuna Poke
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons green onion finely sliced
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice fresh
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil toasted
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
  • ½ teaspoon sriracha or garlic chili sauce
  • 8 ounces tuna diced, sushi grade
For the Bowl, all optional
  • sushi rice white rice, brown rice, or cauliflower rice, prepared
  • pickled carrots celery, or cucumber (see notes
  • avocado edamame, carrots, lettuce, or cucumber, fresh vegetables
  • mayonnaise see notes, sesame seeds, sliced green onion, or nori komi furikaki seasoning, sriracha, spicy, for garnish
  • lime diced mango, sliced radish, or seaweed chips, wedges

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. In a large bowl, stir together the soy sauce, green onion, lime juice, sesame oil, sesame seeds, and sriracha.
  2. Once combined, add the tuna and gently mix to combine. You don’t want to break up the tuna.
  3. Cover and place the poke in the fridge to marinate for 15 minutes (but no more than 1 hour).
  4. Serve with your desired garnishes.
  5. Poke is best enjoyed on the day it is prepared. I do not recommend keeping leftover poke.

Notes

  • Include 2 to 3 additional fresh or pickled ingredients to enhance texture and flavor variety in your poke bowl.
  • To make spicy mayo, combine mayonnaise, sriracha, and water, whisking until smooth for a creamy, mildly spicy topping.
  • For quick pickled vegetables, boil water, rice vinegar, salt, and sugar, then soak desired vegetables for 5-10 minutes before serving.
