Ingredients
Porridge:
- 1 cup steel cut oats *
- 2/3 cup toasted pecans finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 2 teaspoons chai spice mix
- pinch of salt
- ½ cup raisins optional
- 2 cups milk
- ½ cup cream or sub more milk instead
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 2 tablespoons butter melted
Cinnamon Sugar Topping:
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees & grease a 9 or 10 inch round baking dish. I just used a deep dish pie plate.
- In a large bowl, combine steel cut oats, toasted pecans, maple syrup, spices, and raisins. Mix to combine. Pour in milk, cream, vanilla and melted butter & stir to combine. Pour mixture into prepared baking dish.
- Mix together cinnamon sugar mixture. Sprinkle evenly over the porridge mixture. Place dish in the center of your oven and bake for 55-60 minutes. The top will be golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from oven and distribute among bowls. Serve with your favourite toppings such as milk, cream, a drizzle of maple syrup, fresh fruit etc.
Cup of Yum
Notes
- * Note: you could substitute rolled oats, but just make sure you cut down your baking time to about 30-40 minutes as it will cook much faster
