  3. Heat syrup through for 1 minute and then remove from heat.
  4. Cool syrup mixture for five minutes and then remove the vanilla bean, strain the seeds with a cheesecloth if desired and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  5. Serve it with your favorite coffee drinks.

Notes

  • *Vanilla bean can be replaced with an additional 2 tsp pure vanilla extract, but the vanilla bean will give it more flavor.

  • Can you use vanilla extract in coffee instead of vanilla syrup?
  • Vanilla extract is a very concentrated vanilla liquid. It’s not sweetened and won’t taste the same in coffee as vanilla syrup since the syrup is sweetened. Technically, you can add extract directly to your coffee – it will add a vanilla flavor, but it’s definitely not the same.
  • What is the difference between vanilla syrup and vanilla bean syrup?
  • Vanilla bean syrup is made with vanilla seeds which gives the syrup a much stronger flavor. Vanilla syrup could be made with just vanilla extract.
  • Do you have to strain the vanilla beans?
  • No, you don’t have to strain them. You can leave them in your syrup and skip the straining step.
  • How long does it keep?
  • Store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It will keep for up to a week.
