Vegan Beef Crumbles

Vegan beef may seem like an oxymoron, but with TVP and a few easy-to-find ingredients, you'll have delicious vegan ground beef!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups water 473 mL
  • 2 Tbsp tomato paste 30 g
  • 1 Tbsp vegan Worcestershire sauce 15 mL
  • 2 tsp beef flavored broth base I used Orrington Farms
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup textured vegetable protein TVP, 100g

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Simmer: Combine all ingredients except TVP in a large skillet or pot. Bring to a gentle simmer and let cook, uncovered, until mixture reduces in volume by half, about 15 minutes.
  2. TVP: Remove from heat and stir in TVP. Let sit for 10 minutes.
  3. Brown: Turn heat to medium/high and cook until mixture darkens slightly, about 10 minutes.
  4. Serve: Serve hot anywhere you would need ground beef!

Notes

  • Store in the fridge for up to 5 days, or freeze for up to 2 months.
