Watermelon Strawberry Agua Fresca

Ingredients

  • 5 cups watermelon cut into cubes, seedless preferred
  • 2 cups strawberries washed, hulled and quartered
  • 1 lime
  • 2 cups cold water
  • 1 cup ice
  • 1-2 tablespoons sweetener of choice I prefer honey

Instructions

  1. Add water, watermelon, strawberries, lime juice and ice to the blender.
  2. Blend until smooth.
  3. Taste the blended mixture. If you prefer a sweeter drink, add the sweetener of your choice and blend again to incorporate.
  4. For an extra smooth texture, strain the blended mixture through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth. If you're using a high-powered blender, like a Vitamix, straining may not be necessary.
  5. Pour into a pitcher or bottle and refrigerate until chilled (about 1 hour). 
  6. Serve over ice in individual glasses. To prevent watering down the agua fresca, avoid adding ice directly to the pitcher.

Notes

  • Depending on the sweetness of your watermelon and strawberries, you may or may not need to add a sweetener. If desired, you can use regular sugar, simple syrup, or a natural sweetener like honey. I prefer honey for its subtle flavor and health benefits.
  • Start with one tablespoon of sweetener, blend and taste. Then, add more if needed.
