Watermelon Water Recipe

Cool and refreshing watermelon agua fresca, called agua de sandia. A perfect accompaniment to the comida, or mid-day meal and a much better drink option than soda.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups watermelon cut into cubes
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 lime
  • ½ gallon water

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Cut the watermelon into cubes and remove all the seeds.
  2. Place the cut-up watermelon in the blender with 2 cups water and blend until smooth. (about 30 seconds)
  3. Pour the blended watermelon into a ½ gallon pitcher with ½ cup of sugar. Add water to fill pitcher.
  4. Add the juice of 1 lime (optional)
  5. Stir vigorously until the sugar has dissolved. 
  6. Serve lightly chilled or over ice.

Notes

  • Reduce the quantity of sugar if you prefer a less sweet drink. Add more sugar if you prefer a sweeter drinks
