Yellow Rice

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup butter unsalted
  • 2 cups basmati rice or jasmine rice, rinsed and drained
  • 4 cups chicken broth low sodium
  • 2 teaspoons Turmeric
  • 1 cube chicken bouillon
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon sweet paprika
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Stir in the rice to coat it well in the butter and cook for 2 minutes.
  3. Add the chicken broth and the rest of the spices. Stir well and bring to a boil.
  4. Reduce the heat to a simmer and cover the saucepan with a lid.
  5. Simmer the rice for about 15 minutes until the rice is fully cooked. Do not open the lid to stir.
  6. Fluff with a fork and serve.

Notes

  • To make fluffier rice, rinse it in a strainer under cool running water before starting the recipe. This helps to remove any debris or powdery starch. 
  • Do sauté the uncooked rice in the melted butter before adding the chicken broth. This step adds some toasty depth in flavor to the finished dish.
  • It’s crucial that you do not remove the lid when the rice is steaming. The dish will not turn out properly if you interrupt its cooking process.
