Yogurt Sauce
This Yogurt Sauce combines whole milk yogurt, olive oil, lemon juice, dill, garlic zest, salt, and red chili flakes into a creamy and tangy condiment. The bright acidity from lemon and the herbaceous dill complement the smooth yogurt base, while the garlic and chili flakes add gentle warmth and depth. It can accompany various dishes as a refreshing sauce or dip.
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup yogurt see note 1, whole milk
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice from 1 lemon
- 1 tablespoon dill see note 2, minced fresh
- 1 clove garlic zested on a microplane grater
- salt to taste
- red chili flakes to taste
Instructions
- In a small bowl, whisk together the yogurt, olive oil, lemon juice, dill, garlic, and salt and chili flakes to taste (I like 1/4 teaspoon salt and pinch red chili flakes). Cover and refrigerate until serving time.
Notes
- Strain whole milk yogurt overnight for a thicker sauce if preferred.
- Fresh dill is recommended over dried for better flavor.
- Substitute sour cream if yogurt flavor is not desired.
- Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
