3 Min Tandoori Paste Recipe
This 3 Min Tandoori Paste blends yogurt with a range of ground spices including turmeric, cumin, coriander, garam masala, and optional chaat masala, along with ginger and garlic pastes and fresh cilantro. The paste is ready to marinate proteins or vegetables, offering a quick method to infuse dishes with classic tandoori flavors.
Ingredients
- 1 Cup yogurt
- 1 Teaspoon Turmeric ground
- 1 Teaspoon red chili pepper or Cayenne Pepper, ground, see notes,
- ½ Teaspoon black pepper ground
- 1 ½ Teaspoons coriander seeds ground
- 1 ½ Teaspoons cumin seeds ground
- ¼ Teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ Teaspoon green cardamom ground
- 1 Teaspoon garam masala
- ½ Teaspoon chaat masala Optional
- ¼ Teaspoon clove ground
- ½ Teaspoon salt
- 1 Tablespoon ginger paste
- 1 Tablespoon garlic paste
- 1-2 Tablespoons cilantro fresh, chopped, aka Coriander
- 1 Teaspoon neutral cooking oil generic cooking oil
Instructions
- Add the yogurt to the mixing bowl with the spices, ginger garlic paste, salt, chopped fresh cilantro and oil. Mix to a smooth paste.
- Use directly to marinate chicken, vegetables, mushroom, seafood, fish, soya etc or freeze for another day.
Notes
- Kashmiri chili powder gives less heat and vibrant red color, as used in Indian cuisine.
- Batch size is medium; use as much or as little as needed to marinate protein or vegetables.
- Chaat masala is optional; omit if not available or substitute black salt for a tangy flavor.
- Marinate immediately or freeze paste for future use.
