30-Minute Vegan Donuts

These 30-Minute Vegan Donuts are prepared with a batter of flour, baking soda, sugar, salt, applesauce, coconut milk, vinegar, and vegetable oil. The donuts can be baked or cooked in a mini-donut maker, yielding tender, lightly sweet treats. Finished donuts are dipped in melted vegan white chocolate tinted with black gel food coloring and decorated with orange icing, creating visually appealing vegan-friendly donuts.

Ingredients

For the Donut Batter
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ¼ cup applesauce
  • 2 cups coconut milk
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
For the Glace/Icing
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips vegan friendly, melting
  • 1 tube Decorating Icing with a star shaped tip, orange
  • black gel food coloring a few drops
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil if needed

Instructions

  1. Preheat mini-donut maker, or preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Combine coconut milk and vinegar in a medium bowl. Set aside.
  3. Combine flour, soda, salt and sugar in another mixing bowl. Set aside.
  4. Combine apple sauce and oil with the coconut milk mixture.
  5. Add wet and dry ingredients together and whisk with a hand mixer until the batter is smooth.
  6. Spoon the batter into your mini-donut maker or donut pan. If using a donut maker, bake for 3-5 minutes. If baking in the oven, bake for 8-10 minutes or until browned.
  7. Place the white chocolate melting chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave them on high for 1 minute to melt.
  8. Stir white chocolate melting chips until they are fully melted.
  9. Add black GEL food coloring to the melted chocolate. If the chocolate becomes clumpy and, add a tablespoon of vegetable oil and stir until smooth.
  10. Dip donuts into the vegan chocolate and set them aside for the glaze to set.
  11. Using a small star tip on a tube of orange decorating icing, dot 6-10 stars onto each vegan donut. (Or decorate to your own liking with icing.)
  12. Serve!
