5-Minute Brown Sugar Simple Syrup
This simple syrup is made by dissolving equal parts water and brown sugar together over heat, resulting in a sweet liquid ideal for sweetening beverages and recipes. The syrup is quick to prepare, with the option to store it for weeks in the refrigerator.
Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup brown sugar light or dark
Instructions
- In a small or medium saucepan, whisk together water and sugar over medium-high heat. Bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally until sugar is completely dissolved.
- Remove from heat and allow to cool or use immediately. If using in a cold cocktail, I do recommend giving it some time to cool before using.
- Store in an airtight container in the fridge for 3- 4 weeks and use in your favorite beverages or recipes as desired.
Notes
- This recipe yields approximately 1 cup of simple syrup.
- Allow the syrup to cool before adding to cold beverages to prevent dilution.
- Store syrup in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 to 4 weeks.
