5-Minute Brown Sugar Simple Syrup
Description
The 5-Minute Brown Sugar Simple Syrup combines one cup of water with one cup of light or dark brown sugar in a saucepan. Heating the mixture over medium-high heat while whisking dissolves the sugar completely, creating a smooth syrup. Once the sugar is fully dissolved and the mixture simmers briefly, it is removed from heat and cooled before use, especially in cold drinks to prevent dilution. The syrup can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for 3 to 4 weeks, providing a convenient sweetener for cocktails, lemonades, iced teas, and other recipes needing brown sugar flavor and sweetness.
Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup brown sugar light or dark
Instructions
- In a small or medium saucepan, whisk together water and sugar over medium-high heat. Bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally until sugar is completely dissolved.
- Remove from heat and allow to cool or use immediately. If using in a cold cocktail, I do recommend giving it some time to cool before using.
- Store in an airtight container in the fridge for 3- 4 weeks and use in your favorite beverages or recipes as desired.
Notes
- This recipe yields approximately 1 cup of simple syrup.
- Allow the syrup to cool before adding to cold beverages to prevent dilution.
- Store syrup in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 to 4 weeks.
