5-Minute Homemade Vanilla Simple Syrup
This 5-Minute Homemade Vanilla Simple Syrup uses equal parts water and granulated sugar heated until the sugar dissolves and is infused with vanilla bean paste or extract. The syrup is clear, smooth, and sweetened with natural vanilla flavor. It can be used to sweeten beverages and recipes and stored in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
Ingredients
- ½ cup water
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ½ Tablespoon vanilla bean paste or vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a small or medium saucepan, whisk together water and sugar over medium-high heat. Bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally until sugar is completely dissolved. The liquid should be clear. Remove from heat.
- Stir in the vanilla bean paste. Allow to cool or use immediately. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks and use in your favorite beverages or recipes as desired.
Notes
- This recipe yields approximately 3/4 cup of simple syrup; doubling the ingredients doubles the yield.
- For stronger vanilla flavor, add a split vanilla bean pod during simmering, then scrape the seeds into the syrup after cooling.
- Store the syrup in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
