Ingredients
- 2 ripe and firm bananas or plantains
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar for a sweet version
- 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
- Olive oil or coconut oil spray
- Pinch of salt
- ground black pepper optional
Instructions
- Preheat the Ais Fryer to 350 degrees F.
- Peel and uniformly slice the bananas into about 1/4 inch thick chips and place in a large bowl. You can also use a mandoline for this.
- Season with lemon juice, salt, pepper (optional), and brown sugar.
- Arrange the sliced bananas in a single layer in the Air Fryer basket. Spray lightly with coconut oil spray.
- Air fry for 10-12 minutes, or until golden and crispy.
- Repeat with the remaining slices.
Notes
- If you cut some slices thicker than others, they won’t cook evenly, some will turn too soft while others get too crisp. I recommend using a mandoline slicer or taking your time to slice them evenly so they cook at the same rate and have that perfect crunch in every bite.
- If the banana slices overlap, they won’t crisp up evenly. I always cook them in a single layer and work in batches if needed.
- Right out of the air fryer, the chips might seem slightly soft. I let them sit for a few minutes, and they crisp up even more as they cool.
- Overripe bananas will turn mushy instead of crispy. I always pick bananas that are just ripe but still firm enough to hold their shape.
- Thicker slices take longer to crisp, while thinner ones cook faster. I keep an eye on them and adjust the time as needed.
