Air Fryer Chicken Tenders
Air Fryer Chicken Tenders are breaded chicken strips coated in a combination of seasoned breadcrumbs and panko for a crispy golden exterior. They are dipped in beaten egg, coated, then air fried at high heat to cook through while keeping a crunchy crust. Served with lemon wedges, these tenders offer a flavorful alternative to fried chicken with less oil.
Ingredients
- 12 chicken tenders 1 1/4 lbs
- 2 egg beaten, large
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- black pepper (to taste)
- 1/2 cup seasoned breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs seasoned
- olive oil spray form
- lemon for serving, wedges
Instructions
- Season chicken with salt and pepper.
- Place egg in a shallow bowl. In a second shallow bowl, combine the bread crumbs and panko.
- Dip chicken in the egg, then into the breadcrumb mixture and shake off excess and place on a large dish or cutting board. Spray both sides of the chicken generously with oil.
- Preheat air fryer to 400F.
- In batches, cook the chicken 5 to 6 minutes on each side, until the chicken is cooked through and crispy and golden on the outside. Serve with lemon wedges.
Notes
- Opt for gluten-free breadcrumbs to make this recipe suitable for gluten-free diets.
- Spraying the breaded chicken with olive oil before air frying ensures a crisp, golden crust.
- Cook chicken tenders in batches to avoid overcrowding the air fryer and ensure even crispiness.
- Serve with lemon wedges to add a fresh, citrus brightness to the crispy tenders.
