Air Fryer Corn Ribs Recipe

Air Fryer Corn Ribs use corn on the cob cut into rib-like sections, brushed with a butter mixture seasoned with paprika, garlic powder, and optional fresh herbs. After microwaving to soften the corn, the ribs are air fried until curled, lightly charred, and crisped. The recipe includes options for variations in seasoning, such as Mexican street corn flavors or sweet and Jamaican-inspired versions, making it adaptable to different taste preferences. An optional dipping sauce of mayonnaise and BBQ sauce can accompany the ribs for added richness.

Ingredients

  • 4 corn on the cob ears
  • 3 tablespoon butter softened
  • 2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • salt to taste
  • parsley optional, or basil, fresh
Optional Dipping Sauce
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon BBQ sauce

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Cut off the ends, remove the corn from the husk, and take off the silk. Rinse and clean each ear.
  2. Microwave the ears for 2 minutes to soften them before slicing. Let them cool for 5 minutes after microwaving.
  3. Use a sharp knife for slicing. Place the corn vertically and carefully cut it in half. Then cut the halves into quarters, creating four ribs from each ear.
  4. If you find it difficult to cut the ears into ribs, cut them in half horizontally and then make 8 shorter ribs.
  5. Mix butter, smoked paprika, garlic powder and fresh herbs in a small bowl. Mix it well to incorporate the spices throughout the butter.
  6. Brush the corn ribs on all sides with the butter mixture. Use a silicone pastry brush or a spoon to spread it out.
  7. Place the pieces of corn in the air fryer basket, making sure to keep them in a single layer.
  8. Air fry the ribs at 400 degrees F for 10-12 minutes, flipping them after 5 minutes. They will be curled and lightly charred, and crisp when they are done.
  9. Mix the mayonnaise and BBQ sauce in a small bowl for a quick dipping sauce. Other good dipping sauces are whipped feta dip, ranch dressing, or melted butter.

Notes

  • Exercise caution and use a sharp knife when cutting corn ears into ribs to avoid injury.
  • If cutting vertically is difficult, slice the ears in half horizontally to create shorter ribs.
  • Customize seasoning with variations like chili powder and Cotija cheese for Mexican street corn style or cinnamon and sugar for a sweet option.
  • Serve with a mayonnaise and BBQ sauce dip for added flavor balance.
