Air Fryer Edamame

This Air Fryer Edamame recipe uses shelled edamame tossed with oil and curry powder, then air-fried until crisp and golden. The seasoning options add a flavorful twist, creating a crunchy, savory snack or side dish. Cooking edamame in an air fryer provides a quick way to achieve a toasted texture without deep frying.

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces edamame frozen or fresh/ready-to-eat, shelled (2 cups
  • 1 tablespoon cooking oil For oil-free option use 2 teaspoons lemon or lime juice, optional
  • 2½ teaspoons curry powder See Notes for ideas, or other seasoning
  • ¼ teaspoon salt adjust to taste, fine sea salt

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. If using frozen edamame, quick-thaw it by placing in a bowl and covering with water. Let stand for a few minutes, then drain.
  2. Place edamame on a lint-free towel and pat dry. Trasfer to a bowl and toss with the oil (or lemon/lime juice). Add the seasonings and salt, and stir well.
  3. Transfer the edamame to the air fryer basket. No need to preheat the air fryer. Set the air fryer to 375 degrees F (190 C), and cook for about 10 minutes. If the air fryer instructs you to "add food" after a few minutes, shake the basket to toss the edamame. Continue cooking, and shake the basket again during the last few minutes of cooking.
  4. When the edamame is as golden and crisp as you like, carefully pour onto a paper towel-lined plate or bowl. Add another pinch of salt, if desired. Serve immediately while hot and crisp.

Notes

  • Store cooled edamame in a container in the fridge for up to 5 days to keep freshness.
  • Reheat leftovers briefly in the air fryer to restore crisp texture.
  • If you don't have an air fryer, roast edamame in a 375°F oven, tossing every 10 minutes until crisp (about 25-30 minutes).
  • Try different seasonings like harissa, za'atar, chili powder, cumin, or vegan broth powder for varied flavors.
