Notes

  • To bake in the oven:
  • Lightly grease a sheet pan with cooking spray or add a piece of parchment paper on the pan.
  • Cut holes in the bread. Depending on the size of the sheet pan you can bake 4-8 eggs in a hole.
  • Place bread on the sheet pan and crack the eggs in the center of the bread.
  • Bake at 400°F for 5-7 minutes or until the egg whites set.
  • Season with salt and pepper.
  • The edge of a small juice jar can be used instead of a cookie cutter.
  • Optional to spread butter on the bread or to lightly spray the bread with olive oil or avocado oil.
  • The cut out middle of the bread can be used to dip in the runny yolk.
  • You can also keep the bottom the the cut out intact by pressing gently on the bread forming an indentation on the bread, then with your fingers push the bread down without breaking it apart.
  • If you are making more than one piece at a time make sure that you do not over crowd the air fryer basket. Depending on the size of your bread and your air fryer you may be able to make 2 or 3 pieces at a time.
  • You can adjust the cooking time to suit your preferred level of doneness.
