Ingredients

  • 8 slices bread like Texas toast or brioche, thickly sliced
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • cooking spray
  • maple syrup for serving

Instructions

  1. Cut each slice of bread into four equal sticks.
  2. In a shallow dish, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and sugar.
  3. Dip each bread stick into the egg mixture, allowing the excess to drip off. Don’t soak them too long, or they’ll get soggy.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Lightly grease the air fryer basket with butter or non-stick cooking spray. Arrange the bread sticks in the basket in a single layer, making sure they don’t overlap. You may need to work in batches depending on the size of your air fryer. Air fry for 4 minutes, then flip the sticks and continue to air fry for another 4 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
  6. Serve the French Toast Sticks hot with maple syrup for dipping and a sprinkle of powdered sugar.

Notes

  • For the best texture, use thick-cut bread like Texas toast or brioche.
  • If you prefer a less sweet version, you can reduce the sugar in the egg mixture.
  • Remember to preheat your air fryer for the crispiest results.
