Air Fryer Green Beans with Garlic (Chinese-style)

These quick and easy Chinese-style Air-fryer Green Beans are so good! Seasoned with ginger, garlic, and flavorful sauces, these Asian Green Beans are a perfect low carb, vegan side dish.

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces green beans ends trimmed
Seasoning
  • 1/2 tablespoon sesame oil or olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce use Tamari for gluten-free
  • 3/4 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • 1 clove garlic freshly minced, or use 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger freshly grated, optional
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Optional Garnishes
  • sesame seeds
  • crushed red pepper flakes optional

Instructions

  1. Wash and trim the rough ends off the green beans. Pat them dry.
  2. In a large bowl, add all the seasoning ingredients and mix well. Add the green beans. Toss them well, so they are all coated with the seasoning.
  3. Transfer the seasoned green beans to the air fryer basket. Shake basket to spread the green beans. Set the air fryer to 380°F. Air fry for 6-8 minutes for the perfect texture. Shake the basket half way through. (Preheating is not required. The cooking time includes preheating time).
  4. Serve and enjoy green beans. Optionally, sprinkle some sesame seeds.
Oven Method
  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F. Season and transfer the green beans to a large sheet. Spread evenly so they do not overlap. Cook for about 12-15 minutes.

Notes

  • Tips to cook green beans in the air fryer:
  • More seasoning options: 
  • Frozen Green Beans cooks just as well. It will just not get as crispy as fresh ones. Use the same method and add 2-3 minutes to the cooking time.
  • Do not overcrowd in the air fryer basket. Preferably spread the green beans in a single layer. Cook in batches if needed.
  • Serve right way after cooking for the best texture!
  • Toss the green beans in some balsamic vinegar along with salt, pepper and garlic powder.
  • Try other seasonings such as onion powder, ground cumin, paprika, or red chili flakes if you like a spicier taste.
  • Give your roasted green beans an Indian twist by adding ground cumin, turmeric, and some garam masala.
