Air Fryer Hot Pockets - Homemade or Frozen

Air Fryer Hot Pockets are so very easy. They only take a few minutes and you can fill them with whatever you like. Sweet or savory.

Ingredients

  • 1 heet puff pastry dough see notes below
  • ¼ Cup Pizza Sauce see notes below
  • 8 lices pepperoni
  • ½ Cup mozzarella cheese
  • 1 eggs, whisked
  • 1 Tablespoon water
  • Non stick spray

Instructions

For homemade hot pockets
    Cup of Yum
  1. Thaw sheet of puff pastry on counter for about 40 minutes.
  2. If you don't have pizza sauce, use tomato sauce and add Italian seasoning and garlic. Season it with salt and pepper.
  3. Chop up pepperoni or cooked Italian sausage.
  4. Grate or cut mozzarella into small chunks.
  5. Whisk egg together with 1 tablespoon of water.
  6. Cut puff pastry in four equal pieces.
  7. Add about a tablespoon of each, pizza sauce, meat and cheese to the top one piece of the dough.
  8. Brush 2 edges with egg wash. Fold the dough over in half. Press down edges.
  9. Trim dough, if needed. Crimp the edges, if desired. Optional : Spray non stick spray on the tops to make them crispier.
  10. Preheat air fryer to 350°F /170°C for about 5 minutes.
  11. Arrange 2 hot pockets on air fryer basket. Allow plenty of room between them so that they crisp up.
  12. Air fry for about 4 minutes on the first side.
  13. Carefully remove basket from air fryer and flip with tongs.
  14. Continue to air fry for another 2-3 minutes golden and crisped to your liking..
For frozen hot pockets
  1. Preheat air fryer to 350°F 170°C.
  2. Remove frozen hot pocket plastic wrap and crisper sleeve.
  3. Arrange 2 on your air fryer basket. Spray with non stick spray, if desired for a crispier crust.
  4. Air fry for about 5-6 minutes. Carefully remove from air fryer.
  5. Flip with tongs. Continue to air fry another 5-6 minutes until golden and crisped to your liking.

Notes

  • For Frozen Hot Pockets - You only need 4 frozen hot pockets to make 4 servings. Optional, spray lightly with non stick spray.
  • For Homemade Hot Pockets - If you don't have pizza sauce, use ¼ cup tomato sauce. Add ¼ tsp. basil, ½ tsp garlic, ¼ tsp. parsley and a pinch of oregano. Stir well. Use this as the sauce.
  • For Homemade - Press edges together firmly to seal pocket.
