Air Fryer Salt and Vinegar French Fries
These Air Fryer Salt and Vinegar French Fries use Yukon gold potatoes sliced into thin strips then soaked in white vinegar to impart tanginess. Air frying crisps the fries with less oil, while tossing with extra vinegar and salt after cooking enhances their signature sharp, salty flavor.
Ingredients
- 4 large potato Yukon gold variety
- 4 cups distilled white vinegar or enough to cover potato strips
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Topping
- 4 teaspoons distilled white vinegar divided
- salt to taste
Instructions
- Rinse and scrub the potatoes under cold water.
- Using a sharp knife, cut potatoes into thin 1/4 inch strips.
- Transfer the potato strips to a large bowl, cover with vinegar, and let the potatoes soak for about 30 minutes.
- Drain the vinegar and pat the potatoes dry. Add the vegetable oil to the bowl and toss to coat.
- Working in batches, place potatoes into the air fryer basket in a single layer, trying not to overlap. (I made four batches.)
- Air fry at 380°F for 18-20 minutes, turning once halfway through.
- After removing each batch of fries from the air fryer, toss with 1 teaspoon vinegar and salt, to taste. Serve immediately.
