Almond Butter Brownie Bars

These Almond Butter Brownie Bars are the perfect mixture of deliciousness. Made with all-natural ingredients, they make an ultimate little healthy treat.

Ingredients

Brownie Layer
  • ½ cup coconut sugar honey or agave nectar
  • ½ cup almond meal flour or whole-wheat pastry flour regular whole wheat flour will work fine too
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ cup unsweetened applesauce or melted butter
  • ¼ cup liquid egg whites or 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup chocolate chips
Almond Butter Layer
  • 1 cup almond butter
  • ½ cup coconut sugar or brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter melted
  • 1 egg beaten
  • ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Line an square baking dish with parchment paper or grease with coconut oil.
  3. Set aside.
Brownie Layer
  1. In a bowl, mix the sugar or other sweetener of choice), flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt.
  2. Add the egg, butter and vanilla extract.
  3. Mix together thoroughly.
  4. Gently mix in the chocolate chips.
  5. Spread in one even layer on the bottom of the baking dish.
Almond Butter Layer
  1. In another bowl, mix together all of the almond butter ingredients, except the chocolate chips
  2. Mix in the chocolate chips.
  3. Carefully drop almond butter mixture in various spots on top of the brownie layer and spread evenly.
  4. Bake 30 - 34 minutes or until golden brown on top
  5. Let cool.
  6. Lift out of the pan by the parchment paper.
  7. Cut into squares
  8. ENJOY!!
