Apple Banana Nut Oatmeal

A simple way to make oatmeal for yourself or your kids that is ready on the stove top in 7 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup skim milk
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 pinch sea salt
  • 1 cup old fashioned oats
  • 1 banana (sliced)
  • 1 apple (diced)
  • 2 tablespoon flax seed meal
  • 2 tablespoon walnuts (chopped)

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. In a pot over medium heat, wisk together milk, water, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and a pinch of salt.
  2. Bring to a boil gradually and add in oats, banana and apple.
  3. Heat mixture to a boil then reduce heat to low and let simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. Stir frequently and add flax and walnuts during the last minute.
  5. Serve when oatmeal has reached desired consistency.

Notes

  • Good source iron, calcium and Vitamin C
