Apple Bread
This Apple Bread combines diced fresh apples with a cinnamon-spiced batter, resulting in a moist loaf with soft texture and a tender crumb. The addition of a cinnamon powdered sugar glaze adds subtle sweetness and a smooth finish. It's ideal for breakfast or a snack, offering a comforting apple flavor blended throughout the bread.
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar 150 grams
- 1/2 cup milk 4 ounces, 2%
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil 4 ounces
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 5 grams
- 2 cups all-purpose flour 260 grams
- 2 teaspoons baking powder 8 grams
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon 4 grams
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups apple peeled and cored) 2-3 apples, diced, fresh
For the Glaze:
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar 65 grams
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 2-3 tablespoons heavy cream
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350ºF.
- In a medium bowl, stir together the sugar, milk, oil, egg and vanilla. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, cinnamon and salt. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and stir until just combined. 3/4 cup granulated sugar, 1/2 cup 2% milk, 1/2 cup vegetable oil, 1 large egg, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 2 cups all-purpose flour, 2 teaspoons baking powder, 2 teaspoons cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Fold the diced apples gently into the batter. 2 cups diced fresh apples
- Pour the bread batter into a greased 8 1/2 x 4 1/2" loaf pan. Bake for 50-60 minutes. A toothpick inserted in the center of the bread should come out clean. Allow the bread to cool for 10 minutes, then remove the bread to a wire rack to cool completely.
- To make the glaze, combine the powdered sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Add 2 tablespoons of heavy cream. Mix until it is smooth. Add more heavy cream, one tablespoon at a time, until the glaze is thin enough to spread or drizzle (whichever is desired). 1/2 cup powdered sugar, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, 2-3 tablespoons heavy cream
- Once the bread is cool, spread the glaze on top of the bread. Slice and serve.
Notes
- Store the bread in an airtight container in the refrigerator to keep it fresh longer.
- The glaze recipe yields enough for a light drizzle; double the recipe if you prefer more coverage.
