Apple Cinnamon Bread

This Apple Cinnamon Bread is quick and easy to make, fragrant, moist and delicious! Made simply with applesauce and scented with cinnamon and nutmeg, it will make your house smell simply amazing.

Ingredients

  • 80 ml (⅓ cup) vegetable oil or melted butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 200 g (¾ cup) apple sauce
  • 150 g (¾ cup) light brown sugar
  • 200 g (1 ½ cups + 2 tbsp) plain flour ( all-purpose flour)
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • 3 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ⅛ tsp ground nutmeg
Topping
  • 2 tbsp melted butter to brush on cake
  • 3 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180C | 350 F. Line a 2lb loaf tin with baking paper or use a loaf liner.
  2. Add all the ingredients to your food processor in this order - oil or melted butter, eggs, apple sauce and sugar.
  3. Top with the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, cinnamon, salt and nutmeg.
  4. Pulse until the ingredients combine and then process on high speed until the batter is smooth, using a spatula to scrape down the sides of the processor bowl as needed.
  5. Pour the batter in the prepared tin, level and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a skewer inserted in the center comes out clean and cake is springy to the touch.
  6. Cool in the tin for 10 minutes then lift out using the baking paper.
  7. Mix the cinnamon and sugar in a bowl. Brush the warm cake with the melted butter and sprinkle with the sugar.

  • If you want to freeze it then make sure it is completely cool first. Wrap well in a layer of kitchen paper and two layers of aluminum foil and freeze for up to three months. Thaw overnight in the fridge before serving.
