Apple Cranberry Sauce

This apple cranberry sauce is the perfect addition to your holiday menu.

Ingredients

  • 12 oz fresh cranberries
  • 1 apple - peeled and cut into small cubes
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup water
  • Zest from 1 lemon
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp kosher salt
  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to a small saucepan and mix together until evenly combined and the sugar is mostly dissolved.
  2. Heat over medium-high heat until the liquid just begins to bubble. Reduce the heat to low and cover to simmer.
  3. Simmer covered for 20 minutes - stirring occasionally. After 20 minutes, remove the cover and smash the cranberries and apples with a potato masher or the back of a fork.
  4. Simmer for another 10-20 minutes uncovered until the cranberries sauce reaches desired thickness

Notes

  • This sauce can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
