Crumb Topping
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 3/4 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
- 1/2 cup cold butter
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Apple Filling
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup white granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 Granny Smith apples
- 2 Red Delicious apples
- 2 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water

- Preheat oven to 350°F

Crumb Topping
- In a medium-sized bowl, combine 1 cup flour, 1 cup brown sugar, rolled oats, 1/2 cup cold butter, and 1 teaspoon cinnamon.
- Use a fork to combine the mixture until it becomes uniform and crumbly.
Apple Filling
- Peel, core, and chop the apples into bite-sized pieces.
- In a large pot over medium heat, combine 1 cup water, 1 cup sugar, vanilla, and lemon juice. Stir to combine.
- Add the chopped apples to the pot and mix well.
- Make a cornstarch slurry by placing 2 tablespoons water and 2 tablespoons cornstarch in a small bowl. Stir until well combined and smooth.
- Add the slurry to the pot with the apples, stirring while adding it to the pot.
- When the apple mixture thickens, remove it from the heat.
Crisp
- Pour the cooked apple mixture into a 9 x 14-inch oval baking dish.
- Sprinkle the oat topping mixture over the apple mixture.
- Bake at 350°F for approximately 1 hour or until the topping turns golden brown.
Notes
- Serve with vanilla ice cream.
