Apple Dumplings

Quick and easy apple dumplings with a slice of apple wrapped in a crescent roll and baked in a delicious brown sugar syrup for the perfect fall dessert.

Ingredients

  • 8 ounce can crescent rolls (8 count)
  • 2 large Granny Smith apples
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • vanilla ice cream for serving
Cinnamon Brown Sugar Syrup
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 Tablespoons butter
  • ⅛ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ⅛ teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 Tablespoon cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease a 8x8 or 9x9 inch square baking dish with nonstick spray and set aside.
  2. Peel and core apples. Then cut into quarters. Sprinkle each apple quarter with ¼ teaspoon of cinnamon.
  3. Wrap each apple quarter with a crescent roll and seal up all the edges. Place in prepared 9x9 inch pan.
  4. In a medium saucepan mix in all the syrup ingredients. Bring to a light boil and simmer for 2 minutes while stirring continuously.
  5. Pour the syrup in the pan over the crescent rolls.
  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 35 minutes or until golden brown on top and the apple is cooked through.
  7. Let cool 5 minutes and serve with vanilla ice cream if desired.

Notes

  • FRIDGE: You can either cover the baking dish tightly in plastic wrap or transfer the crescent roll apple dumplings to an airtight container. Store in the fridge for 4-5 days, and reheat when you want to enjoy a warm apple dumpling! Be sure to scoop all of the syrup into the airtight container that you transfer the dumplings to.
  • FREEZER: Transfer leftover dumplings and syrup into an airtight container and freeze for up to 3 months. Cook dumplings from frozen until warmed all the way through.
