Ingredients
- 8 ounce can crescent rolls (8 count)
- 2 large Granny Smith apples
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- vanilla ice cream for serving
Cinnamon Brown Sugar Syrup
- 1 cup brown sugar packed
- 1 cup water
- 2 Tablespoons butter
- ⅛ teaspoon cinnamon
- ⅛ teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 Tablespoon cornstarch
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease a 8x8 or 9x9 inch square baking dish with nonstick spray and set aside.
- Peel and core apples. Then cut into quarters. Sprinkle each apple quarter with ¼ teaspoon of cinnamon.
- Wrap each apple quarter with a crescent roll and seal up all the edges. Place in prepared 9x9 inch pan.
- In a medium saucepan mix in all the syrup ingredients. Bring to a light boil and simmer for 2 minutes while stirring continuously.
- Pour the syrup in the pan over the crescent rolls.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 35 minutes or until golden brown on top and the apple is cooked through.
- Let cool 5 minutes and serve with vanilla ice cream if desired.
Notes
- FRIDGE: You can either cover the baking dish tightly in plastic wrap or transfer the crescent roll apple dumplings to an airtight container. Store in the fridge for 4-5 days, and reheat when you want to enjoy a warm apple dumpling! Be sure to scoop all of the syrup into the airtight container that you transfer the dumplings to.
- FREEZER: Transfer leftover dumplings and syrup into an airtight container and freeze for up to 3 months. Cook dumplings from frozen until warmed all the way through.
