Apple Panna (sweet and sour apple cooler)
Apple Panna is a delicious sweet and sour apple cooler made with fresh apple and spices. The perfect way to start the Summer. Vegan and Gluten Free Recipe.
Ingredients
- 1/2 apple medium
- 1 tablespoon jaggery or sugar
- 1/4 salt teaspoon, or to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon rock salt (kala namak or chaat masala to taste)
- pinch black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1-2 mint leaf (optional)
- 2 teaspoons lemon juice (less or more for sourness)
- 2 cups water
Instructions
- Peel(optional, and I dont mind peel and pulp) and cube the apple and pressure cook with little water for 2-3 whistles. or cook in a covered container with 2 cups of water for half an hour till the apples are are soft and mushy.
- Once cooled, blend the apple in a blender to make puree.
- Add grated jaggery or sugar, salt, black pepper, rock salt, cumin powder and mint and blend again.
- Add lemon juice and more water if needed. Adjust salt and sugar according to taste.
- If the pulp is bothersome, then strain the drink before serving!
- Chill and serve with ice cubes!
