Authentic Japanese Gyoza Dipping Sauce
The authentic Japanese gyoza dipping sauce combines rice vinegar, soy sauce, chili oil (rayu), and ground black pepper to create a tangy, salty, slightly spicy complement for pan-fried gyoza. This balanced sauce enhances the dumplings’ flavor without overpowering them and works well served in small dishes for sharing.
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 2 tsp soy sauce
- ½ tsp Chili oil rayu
- ⅛ tsp black pepper ground
Instructions
- Add 1 tbsp rice vinegar, 2 tsp soy sauce, ½ tsp chili oil (rayu) and ⅛ tsp ground black pepper to a small bowl and mix until combined.
- Serve along side pan-fried gyoza and enjoy!
Notes
- This recipe makes enough sauce for approximately two people, or 16 gyoza total.
- Store unused fresh sauce in the refrigerator for up to one week.
- Do not keep leftover sauce that has been used for dipping gyoza to maintain food safety.
- Divide sauce into smaller dishes if sharing among multiple diners.
