Authentic Tzatziki - Greek Garlic Yogurt Dip

This authentic Greek tzatziki is a creamy garlic yogurt dip enhanced with fresh cucumber and dill. The strained full-fat Greek yogurt provides a thick base, while grated and drained cucumber adds refreshing moisture without excess water. Crushed garlic and red wine vinegar give it a bright, tangy undertone. Olive oil rounds out the texture, making it ideal for spreading or dipping.

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces Greek yogurt full fat
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • salt
  • 1-2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 cucumber medium size (5-6 inches
  • dill fresh

Instructions

  1. *Makes 2 cups
  2. Crush the garlic with a little bit of salt and pepper.
  3. Peel the cucumber and grate. Squeeze well to get rid of water.
  4. Whip the yogurt in a bowl and then add the garlic paste, mixing well and then add the cucumber and mix again.
  5. Start adding small amounts of olive oil alternating with the vinegar while mixing.
  6. Add about 2 teaspoons fresh dill and mix well.
  7. Let it sit at least an hour in the refrigerator before serving.
