Avocado Toast Recipe
This avocado toast features thick slices of gourmet bread topped with either mashed or sliced ripe avocado, seasoned with sea salt and black pepper. The toasted bread provides a crisp, sturdy base while the creamy avocado adds smoothness and a mild, buttery flavor. Optional additions like lemon juice and extra virgin olive oil can enhance the taste further. This recipe is ideal for a light meal or snack that highlights simple, fresh ingredients.
Ingredients
- 4 gourmet bread large thick slices
- 2 peeled seeded, and mashed or sliced avocados
- sea salt to taste
- black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Toast your bread in the oven at 400° for 4 to 5 minutes or in a toaster until lightly browned and crusty.
- You can either smash the avocados or you can thinly slice them when serving them.
- There are many things to add on the top of the avocado after spreading it on top of the toast. A few things to help enhance the flavor would be adding a hint of lemon juice, 1 to 2 teaspoons of extra virgin olive oil, salt, and pepper.
Notes
- Prepare the avocado and toast separately if storing; keep toast at room temperature up to 3 days and avocado covered with lemon juice in the refrigerator up to 3 days.
- Test avocado ripeness by gentle pressure or easy removal of the top stem.
- Any bread type can be used, but slices should be thick to support the avocado.
