  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil
  • 1½ tsp salt
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 Teaspoon sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon yeast, pizza
For the Pizza
  • 1 Tablespoon cornmeal
  • flour for rolling the dough
  • ¼ recipe Pizza Dough - see recipe below
  • 2 lices Bacon crisped
  • 1 Teaspoon olive oil
  • ½ lb ground beef browned
  • 4 Tablespoon Thousand Island dressing or substitute pizza sauce
  • 3 Tablespoon grated parmesan can use any cheese you like.
  • 1½ cup grated mozzarella can use any cheese you like.

Instructions

For Pizza Dough
    Cup of Yum
  1. Add ingredients to bread machine, in order given. Start machine on dough cycle.
  2. No need to let the dough rise, if using pizza yeast. Once kneaded, dough is done.
  3. Save any additional dough in bags and freeze for another occasion.
For the Pizza
  1. Start the dough in the Bread Machine according to the manufacturer's instructions for "dough only". Make the 4-pizza batch and freeze what you don't need for another day to save you time later.
  2. Use frozen bacon or make air fryer bacon, which takes less than 10 minutes.
  3. Place oil in a large frying pan. Brown ground beef over high heat.
  4. Make 1000 Island Sauce, use store-bought or refer to this recipe. You can substitute pizza sauce for the thousand island.
  5. When the dough is done, punch it down and remove it to a floured board. Stretch and roll the dough on a floured board.
  6. Sprinkle cornmeal on a pizza stone, metal baking sheet, or pizza pan.
  7. Spread thin layer of sauce on dough.
  8. Sprinkle with half of the cheese, then beef.
  9. Sprinkle top with bacon bits and then the rest of cheese.
  10. Bake at 425°F for about 15-18 minutes until cheese and crust are nicely browned and filling is bubbly.

Notes

  • IMPORTANT NOTE!! USE EITHER THE 1000 ISLAND DRESSING OR THE TOMATO SAUCE, DEPENDING ON WHAT WE FEEL LIKE ON THAT NIGHT. DON'T USE BOTH SAUCES ON THE SAME PIZZA.
  • The recipe for the dough makes enough dough for 4 12" pies.
  • Pizza crust can be cooked in the oven, in a pizza oven, or directly on the grill, on a pizza stone, or on a grill mat.
  • Leftovers last 3-4 days.
  • Uncooked dough can be frozen, up to 4 months.
  • Tips for yeast dough:
  • You can "bloom" yeast in water or milk and sugar to see if it is still active. The liquid should be very warm. Some yeasts require no blooming.
  • Always check package of yeast for recommended temperature of liquid, different types and brands bloom best at different temps.
  • Don't rush the rising process, if using regular yeast. The dough should be doubled in the pan.
  • Rise the dough in a warm spot, covered with a clean kitchen towel. Turn the oven on low and place the rising dough near the oven exhaust. Not directly under the exhaust but on top of the stove.
  • When using pizza yeast, there is no rising is necessary.
  • Only a rest is required when using Rapid Rise Yeast.
