Bacon Gravy For Biscuit And Gravy Sandwiches

This delicious bacon gravy recipe is perfect for a biscuit and gravy breakfast sandwich!

Ingredients

  • 4 lices bacon, chopped
  • 1/4 cup bacon grease
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups milk, warmed
  • 1/2-1 tsp salt depending on taste
  • 1/2-1 tsp pepper depending on taste
  • 1/4 tsp thyme
  • 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine warm bacon grease and flour and mix until well combined. Transfer to pan and heat on medium to medium high heat, while whisking, until starting to bubble, about 1-2 minutes. 
  2. Slowly add warm milk to mixture and whisk well. Once it starts to simmer, reduce heat, add in the chopped bacon, salt, pepper and seasonings, and simmer on a low heat while stirring for approximately 2-3 minutes. Serve immediately on top of biscuits or biscuit sandwiches. 

Notes

  • Bacon gravy is typically not as flavored as sausage gravy is, so feel free to taste test and add additional seasonings if desired.
