Ingredients

  • 4 pounds apple about 8, Granny Smith variety
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar , packed
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Peel, core, and chop the apples into large chunks.
  3. Place the apples, cinnamon, and nutmeg into a large dutch oven or a 9x13 baking dish (if using a baking dish, cover tightly with foil).
  4. Cook for 40-45 minutes, then carefully remove from oven and smash with a fork or let cool completely before pureeing smooth.
