Ingredients

  • 2 pounds boneless, skinless, chicken breast 3-4 chicken breasts
  • 1 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 tablespoons brown sugar
  • ½ tablespoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon cumin
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/3 cup BBQ sauce

  1. Preheat oven to 375˚F.
  2. Combine the chili powder, brown sugar, paprika, salt, garlic powder, black pepper, and cumin in a dish and mix together. Rub the chicken all over with the seasoning mix.
  3. In a large oven safe skillet, heat the oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the chicken breast to the skillet. Let cook 1-2 minutes or until seared, then flip to the other side and cook an additional 1-2 minutes.
  4. Brush BBQ sauce on both sides of the chicken, then transfer the skillet to the oven and bake for 18-22 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through (165˚F). Let rest for 5 minutes, then serve warm.*If your skillet is not oven safe, brush the chicken with BBQ sauce and transfer to a baking sheet to finish cooking in the oven.
