Baked Potato on the Grill

Making baked potatoes on the grill is great for all sorts of summertime meals!

Ingredients

  • 4 medium size potatoes
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or other oil
  • salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat grill to medium heat (about 375 degrees F or 190 degrees C).
  2. Wash and dry the potatoes and pierce them all over with a fork.
  3. Rub oil over the potatoes and sprinkle salt all over them.
  4. Wrap potatoes individually in aluminum foil in two layers making sure there are no exposed spots.
  5. Poke holes in the wrapped spuds again.
  6. Place on the hot grill and grill for about 45 minutes or until easily pierced with a paring knife or skewer.
  7. Let them rest for a few minutes, then unwrap the foil and serve.

Notes

  • Make sure to preheat grill before cooking your taties, for the best results.
  • Try to grill equally sized russet potatoes, so that they cook at the same rate.
  • Turn them over once during cooking so they cook evenly.
  • Make sure to keep the grill lid closed as much as you can during cooking so that the temperature stays as even as possible (like you would for an oven).
  • Make sure each entire potato is well oiled and seasoned.
  • If your spuds are undercooked then grill for a bit longer.
  • Done potatoes are super hot, so please use tongs to carefully transfer them to a plate before serving.
  • Storage - keep in an airtight container inside the fridge for 5 days.
