Ingredients

  • 4 sweet potato
  • salt to taste, Kosher salt and freshly ground
  • black pepper to taste, Kosher salt and freshly ground
  • butter optional

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Give your sweet potatoes a good wash and scrub.
  2. Place the sweet potatoes on a baking sheet and poke 4 to 5 holes in each sweet potato with a fork or sharp knife.
  3. Bake in the oven for approximately 60 minutes, or until soft. To test if they're done, poke them with a fork or knife. You should should feel very little resistance when inserted.

Notes

  • Use a sturdy baking sheet to prevent warping during cooking for even heat distribution.
  • A vegetable scrub brush is useful for thoroughly cleaning the sweet potatoes before baking.
