Balsamic Brussels Sprouts

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Brussels sprouts
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp balsamic glaze
  • 1/2 cup walnuts
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F and brush a baking sheet with olive oil. and halve the brussels sprouts.
  2. Cut the brussel sprouts in half and place them in a bowl. Toss them with the olive oil, oregano, salt and pepper.
  3. Transfer to the baking sheet and arrange them so they are all cut side down. This will help with even roasting and makes them crispy and golden.
  4. Roast the brussels sprouts for 20 minutes, then flip them and roast for another 10 minutes until they are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.
  5. Arrange on a plate and top with balsamic glaze, chopped walnuts and dried cranberries.

Notes

  • Avoid Overcrowding the Pan: Spread the Brussels sprouts in a single layer, giving them space to roast rather than steam. Overcrowding the pan prevents air circulation, making them soggy instead of crispy.
  • Flip the Sprouts Halfway Through: After about 20 minutes of roasting, flip the Brussels sprouts to allow even browning on both sides. This ensures maximum crispiness all around.
  • Add Balsamic Glaze After Roasting: Drizzle the balsamic glaze on the Brussels sprouts after they come out of the oven. Adding the glaze too early could burn the sugars in the balsamic, resulting in a bitter taste.
