Balsamic Glaze (Balsamic Reduction)
Balsamic Glaze is a concentrated sauce made by simmering balsamic vinegar with optional sweeteners such as honey or maple syrup until thickened. The resulting reduction coats the back of a spoon and offers a rich, tangy-sweet flavor ideal for drizzling over salads, roasted vegetables, grilled meats, or desserts. The glaze intensifies balsamic vinegar’s natural sweetness and acidity while providing a syrupy texture.
Ingredients
- 1 cup balsamic vinegar
- honey or maple syrup, optional sweetener
Instructions
- Add the balsamic vinegar and any sweetener to a small pot. Bring it to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes or until the sauce coats the back of a spoon.
- Use immediately or store in a sealed container in the fridge. It will continue to thicken up as it cools.
Notes
- The glaze thickens further while cooling; adjust the consistency by reheating with a little water if it hardens too much.
- Use a sealed container for storage in the refrigerator to maintain quality and prevent contamination.
